ABOUT US
It all started at Old Dominion University's Village Apartments circa 2015. It was here were Montrey Shepard aka Twice '"The" Barber began his barber career by offering students with free haircuts as practice. These on campus apartments gradually transformed into the school barbershop where students could come and get some of the best haircuts on campus.
After a year in the on campus apartments, it was time to move off campus. The hustle still had to continue so the shop moved the living room of Twice's apartment. Another year passed and it was time level up again. This time the shop moved to the garage of the Kappa Frat House. Word of the new garage barbershop at the frat house spread like wild fire on campus and the surrounding area everyone one who was anyone on campus had to pull up and see the hype. The barbershop in the garage began getting attention from people in the neighborhood as well. The garage transitioned from being a barbershop into a salon as some of the stylists on campus started working in there.
As the school year came to an end, Twice began cooking up plans to relocate to a store from nearby campus. In July of 2018, The Hair Kulture Salon was opened to the public. The mission continues to be the one stop shop for students and people in the community to get there hair done by some of the best stylists in the city.
